Just a young mom of 2 sharing her thoughts with the world.

Matthew, Genesis, Exodus, and Isaiah 1-40

So I’ve blogged about this a bit but wanted to update you on my journey through the scriptures. I’ve been reading through the Bible using the Bible in One Year plan on the YouVersion app on my iPhone. I’ve loved it for a lot of reasons: Convenience: I can read anytime, any day that I have my phone (which is everyday), The Plan: I’ve never read through a plan from start to finish before and I have committed to do just that this year and this plan is perfect. It lays out a few chapters of Old Testament (in order), a few chapters of New Testament (in order), a few verses of Psalms, and a few verses of Proverbs., and finally: the WORD, I’ve not only gained some intellect but I’ve been able to read the scriptures in a new way as I’ve read through the books of the Bible in order. I’ve truly felt the Holy Spirit speak to me as I’ve read through the well known stories in His Word, specifically Abraham & Sarah, the parable of the seeds planted on the different soils, the exodus of the Israelite’s and finally the revelation of God’s law to Moses. I will say that as I have started Leviticus I can see why this is where most people flake out but I’m trying to look at it in the light of God’s amazing power and might instead of the mundane repetition of the laws and guidelines for holiness and cleanliness.

On a different note I’m through the first 40 books of Isaiah in this year’s BSF study. I enjoy this book much more than I expected to. Last week we read chapters 42 -44 and I loved the following verses:

Isaiah 43

Israel’s Only Savior

1 But now, this is what the LORD says—
he who created you, Jacob,
he who formed you, Israel:
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
2 When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze.

They were such a reminder of God’s mercy. After BSF this past week I have the privilege of having my ‘group’ over for lunch and fellowship. So myself and 3 other Godly ladies were able to hang out, eat and share all that God has taught us through the book of Isaiah thus far. We’ve had some amazing prayer requests answered in our group this year so I can’t wait to see what God does through the remainder of the book.
