New Thru 30 – Day 4
Day 4 is here and we’re DONE with the book of John. Sad but excited to move to another book in the New Testament.
Read Romans 1-7.
WOW!! Abraham was considered RIGHTEOUS, verse 3 says, “For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.” Do you know what Abraham did…umm let’s remember just a few things he did:
1. He LIED about his wife being his wife. He told them she was his sister. WOW, he let other men believe that she was not a married woman.
2. He didn’t TRUST GOD to fulfill his promise of an heir. Okay, Sarah had something to do with this one too but come on, you’d think a righteous man wouldn’t give into temptation and sin…wrong. He was sinful YET…in verse 13 it says, “For the promise to Abraham and his offspring that he would be heir of the world did not come through the law but through the righteousness of faith.”
THEN God does only what he can do and turns Abraham’s life and example back to us, today. In verses 23-25 he says, “23 But the words “it was counted to him” were not written for his sake alone, 24 but for ours also. It will be counted to us who believe in him who raised from the dead Jesus our Lord, 25 who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification.”
Man, our God is GOOD!
AND….then there was Romans 7 today too…jammed packed reading.
Such a great reminder of God’s laws AND His amazing grace and mercies. Verse 9 says it all, “I was once alive apart from the law, but when the commandment came, sin came alive and I died.”
