Great Kids Books
Here are some books (or book series) that I’ve enjoyed reading with my kids. Click on the book to find my detailed post.
Magic Tree House Books:
We’ve officially entered into the world of chapter books at bedtime reading. Addyson’s teachers this year at school started reading this book series and while at the library this past weekend Addyson started asking me if we could continue reading them. I have to be honest and say that I had no idea what series she was talking about.
I knew that the few times I had heard them reading at school they were reading about 2 kids on an adventure and that there were Ninjas and Mummies and Pirates involved but other than that I knew nothing.
So we went to the librarian at the kids counter and Addyson asked, “What are the books we can read about Annie and Jack’s adventures?”. The librarian knew at once what she was talking about and I was soon introduced to the Magic Tree House series.
And we are hooked!
Kylie Jean Books:
Kylie Jean Carter is a real southern girl. She likes to live large just like the state of Texas where she lives. In the first book, Drama Queen, Kylie sets her sights of the role of the Queen of Hearts in her second grade class production of Alice in Wonderland. She’s up against Paula the new girl in class who is quite the “mean girl”. Kylie and her friends have to figure out how to handle these “mean girl” situations in order to have a fun second grade year.
Junie B. Jones Books:
Junie B. Jones is an outgoing, hilarious, outrageously sassy girl who tells it like it is (from her perspective, of course). I have to be honest and say that after the first 6 books I began weeding through them before we read them aloud at bedtime. They generally caused Addyson to get riled up not calmed down before bed.
